Manual Handling Course ( Modules A to F People handling)

Course Aim

The aim of this course is to provide students with best practice training in Manual & People Handling, together with consistent support to meet the standards set by the All Wales Manual Handling Passport.

Objectives

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

• Describe the function of the spine
• Examine & Discuss Manual Handling Legislation
• Discuss Company Manual Handling policy’s
• Describe Ergonomics
• Examine and Discuss Manual Handling Risk Assessment
• Discuss safe handling procedures
• Explain the need for effective teamwork & communication
• Demonstrate safe inanimate load handling
• Demonstrate appropriate skills in assisting a client to Sit, Stand & Walk
• Demonstrate appropriate skills in assisting a client move in a bed
• Demonstrate appropriate skills in the safe operation of a hoist

Course Syllabus

Module A- Spinal Awareness, Legislation, policies, ergonomics, risk assessment,
safe handling procedures, team handling & communication.
Module B- Inanimate Load Handling & Practical Ergonomics
Module C- Sitting, Standing & Walking
Module D- Bed Mobility
Module F- Hoisting
